What are the school’s opening hours?
The school is open seven days a week and closed on all public holidays.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Where is the school located ?
ESOM SCHOOL OF MUSIC is located on plot 609 along Rubaga road opposite Kobil petrol station just after former pride theater. Alternatively you can locate the school using this Google map link: https://goo.gl/maps/x9WzF
Do you have any other branch?
No. Currently we have only one branch. However, we are considering starting various branches around the country in the near future.
Do you provide accommodation for your students?
In this case, the school does not provide accommodation. Our long-distance students, on the other hand, are provided with affordable housing in the surrounding area, with an average cost of UGX 225,000 per term. Please keep in mind that meals are not included in the fee paid for accommodation.
Do I have to study everyday?
No. Lessons are conducted once a week. The rest of the week is dedicated to practice. The student is encouraged to come at the school as many times as possible within the week. However, he/she is also free to practice from home provided they have the necessary practice resources.
Do I have to pay for practice?
No. Practice is provided at no cost. Every day, you are permitted to engage in free practice for a total of 60 minutes.
Does the school accept payment in installments?
Yes. The school accepts a maximum of two installments, the first installment being 60% which is paid together with the requirements before lessons begin and the balance of 40% that is paid within four (4) weeks after lesson commencement.
What are your payment methods?
Currently the school has three (3) payment methods:

  1. Cash at the school reception
  2. Bank Deposit/Cheque to the school’s account
  3. Mobile Money

Are the fees negotiable?
No. The fees amount is fixed for every item.
Do you give bursaries?
No. At the present time, the school does not provide bursaries. However, it is something that we have on our to-do list for the future.
Do you offer SHORT COURSES? If yes, who do they cater for and how long do they take?
Yes. Our short courses last for a minimum of four (4) weeks or one month and they are designed for three broad categories of individuals:

      People who are doing music for leisure and just want to acquire basics on the instrument and be able to play a couple of songs.
      Individuals who have been playing for sometime but want to advance their skills
      People who want to learn how to play a specific song. For example a person who wants to surprise a significant other on their wedding day or anniversary.

Is Esom School of Music Accredited ?
Yes. ESOM SCHOOL OF MUSIC is accredited by the ministry of education and sports under directorate of industrial training (DIT). Accreditation number mac/0586
Do you offer Diplomas and Degrees?
Not at the moment. However, we have it on our roadmap to introduce diplomas and eventually degrees.
I did not complete primary 7, can I still be admitted?
Yes. We accept applications from everybody, regardless of their educational background.
Do I have to own an instrument before I start with my lessons/course?
No. The school is equipped with various musical instruments used for both practice and lessons. However, for steady progress it’s highly recommend that you acquire one.
Does the school have a library where students can access study materials?
Yes. Currently the school boasts of both a traditional books library and a digital library. Our digital library is loaded with professionally made videos tutorials for all courses which students can access free of charge.
Do you offer musical instruments for sale?
Yes. The school provides a fully stocked music store where students can purchase their musical instruments and equipment at reasonable pricing. You can look at the shop’s website to discover what things are currently in stock and what their pricing are. (www.nofeka.ug)
Do you teach children?
Yes. The school runs three (3) holiday programs per year. These programs are aligned to the school holidays in Uganda’s education system and they are charged basing on the duration of the holiday.
Is the holiday program only for children?
No. Anyone can enroll during the holiday period however the program is designed mainly for children.
I’m above 40 years, I’m I not too old to take music lessons?
NO. You are never too old to learn a music instrument. Don’t let age prevent you from achieving your dream of playing your favorite music instrument. We currently enroll students starting from 4 years and there is no limit above.
Do you help your students get jobs after studying?
Yes. Several institutes, organizations and other potential employers contact the school with employment opportunities and we always make suitable recommendation among our students that completed their course.

What study programs are currently available?
The school currently has the following programs:

  1. Private courses: These are conducted on a one on one basis, teacher and student. A student can enroll for this program any time of the year.
  2. Group Courses: these are conducted in groups of 8 students and above. We enroll students two (2) times a year. That is February and August.
  3. Evening Programs: These are designed for individuals that are busy with work during day but would like take on any of the courses. These programs are conducted between 6pm and 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  4. Weekend Programs: Our weekend programs are conducted on Saturdays between 9am and 4pm, Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
  5. Holiday Programs: these are aligned with the national school holiday schedule.

Is it possible for me to enroll for more than one instrument or course?
Yes. A student is allowed to enroll for a maximum of three (3) courses or instruments at any given time. However, each instrument/course is paid for separately. It is recommended that the students who want to enroll for more than one instrument or course should be able to pay for the courses comfortably.
I’m driving, do you have parking?
Yes there is ample parking space adjacent to the school.
How long has ESOM been in existence and what does ESOM stands for?
We have been in existence 15 years now and ESOM stands for Eternity Source of Music.
What are the courses are offered at ESOM SCHOOL OF MUSIC?
The school offers a number of courses as listed below:

I’m interested in Audio Production. Does the school have enough production facilities to cater for both lesson and practices?
Yes. The school boasts of four (4) fully fledged production studios that are used by our students throughout the week for both practices and lessons.
Does the school have a standby generator in case of power outages?
In the event of a power shortage, the school does, in fact, have an emergency generator.
I am an international student, how do I go about the enrollment process?
International students require a study visa in order to be allowed to study in Uganda. After paying for the requirements (UGX 100,000), the school will send you a receipt, recommendation letter and the Immigration number which will enable you to successfully process the Visa.
