Storytelling is at the heart of both video and film production, and each of these art forms uses unique mediums. Students who choose to major in Video/Film Production will work toward achieving a variety of learning goals, from broadcast operations to video production to digital filmmaking. Students will learn the information and abilities necessary for the collection of video and audio, as well as shooting, editing, directing, lighting, replaying, graphics, compositing, animation, and switching.

Students make use of industry-standard software and hardware in order to transfer the knowledge gained in the classroom to real-world settings and projects. These environments and projects may include film making, documentary production, commercial production, television broadcasting, and sports production. Students will have the chance to produce high-definition material as a result of these activities. Students also learn about the many ways to deliver video content, such as through broadcasting, online streaming, making films, and live venues.

Position Summary

To engage and educate our students, Esom School seeks creative, motivated, and diverse people for a part-time video instructor position. Candidates that are successful will interact, communicate, and work professionally with students and administration. Applicants who have shown a strong desire to teach and help students from different backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Preparing lesson plans for classroom instruction, developing program syllabi, goals and objectives;
  • Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives;
  • Maintaining program certification requirements, as appropriate;
  • Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports;
  • Establish an atmosphere conducive to student success and design well-organized class sessions in which students can comfortably learn.
  • Complete course assignment books, learning assessments, and final exam assessments on a timely basis.
  • Respond to student questions on a timely basis.
  • Teach global trends and current and emerging technology in the field.
  • Ensure that course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.
  • Act as a substitute when needed.
  • Work with the team members and other appropriate groups on retention activities.

Video Production Instructor Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in film, television or closely related field.
  • Professional production experience in film and/or video
  • Expertise in the pre- to postproduction filmmaking workflow with at least one craft specialty in camera/lighting, audio, postproduction, and/or visual effects.
  • Teaching experience in a multicultural setting
  • Experience developing inclusive and effective culturally responsive classroom activities.
  • Professional self-starter with a growth mindset.
  • Experience with and knowledge of current and emerging technologies in the industry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Possess a high level of motivation with a strong drive for results.
